Inspiring South Australian Women’s Award 2025

The Inspiring South Australian Women’s Award recognises an exceptional and inspiring woman who has made an outstanding contribution to the community. The Award is a collaborative initiative coordinated by the Australia Day Council of South Australia and the Office for Women. It is sponsored by Katrine Hildyard MP, Minister for Women and the Prevention of Domestic and Family Violence. This prestigious Award recognizes individuals, groups, or organizations making significant contributions toward advancing gender equality, promoting women’s rights, and preventing domestic and family violence. By acknowledging these efforts, the Award aims to inspire continued progress in these critical areas, empowering communities to foster safe, inclusive environments where women can thrive free from violence and discrimination.

The award categories include:

  • Inspiring South Australian Women’s Award: Recognises exceptional and inspiring women who have made outstanding contributions to the community that have had a positive impact through their achievements and leadership.
  • Emerging Leader’s Award: Recognises exceptional and inspiring women, aged 16 to 30, who have made outstanding contributions to the community that have had a positive impact through their achievements.

Eligibility for Women’s Award

  • Be an Australian Citizen;
  • Work and reside in South Australia;
  • Not currently a sitting state and federal politician or current vice-regal officer.

Selection Criteria of Women’s Award

Inspiring South Australian Women’s Award 

  • Have made an outstanding contribution to their community
  • Evidence of the positive impact on their community or on people’s lives
  • Evidence of Leadership in their field and an inspirational role model.

Emerging Leader only

  • Young Woman aged 16 to 30 as of 26 January the year the award is presented.

Nomination

Nominations for 2025 will close on November 1, 2024. They would particularly like to encourage nominations from women of all ages, cultures, disabilities, ethnicities and faiths.
